Tattoo customer, Ollie came in with a poorly executed tribal tattoo design which was applied some years ago. He had the idea of having this tribal tattoo covered up and built upon with a more meaningful, timeless and future proofed tattoo design. (Photo #1)After an initial tattoo design consultation, it was ascertained that Ollie wanted to incorporate the names of his wife & children into the tattoo design. Protecting them was a core belief of the utmost importance to him in his featured tattoo artwork. We then arranged a specific tattoo design art brainstorming session with the tattoo artist, Zane, who ‘called upon’ his creative abilities to come up with the concept picture (tattoo sketch) for the tattoo design as shown in Photo #2. Typically, a tattoo ‘shop’ would recommend fitting a scroll (containing his wife & children’s names) very closely to the old tattoo design– and the old tribal tattoo design would simply be filled in with solid black ink , in an attempt to disguise the old tattoo design. In looking at both the final tattoo design sketch and the finished tattoo design -you would not easily realise that a ‘cover up’ has been carried out at all! The end tattoo design looks like a completely new tattoo altogether! As the tattoo photos depict, the new tattoo design is a SUBSTANTIAL upgrade from the previous tattoo design and also includes the following key tattoo design points: a shield as a representation of protection, the cherubs (angels) stand for his children and the heart represents his love for his family. (Photo # 3)The final image (Photo # 4) was the taken after the final COMPLIMENTARY tattoo ‘touch up’ sitting. As you can see, the lettering in this tattoo design is sharper, bolder & more defined – especially the outlines around the tattoo imagery (i.e. the angels, etc). The red pigmentation you can see is from the immediate skin irritation which is normally visible immediately after significant tattoo work has been undergone – however it quickly fades back to the correct black & grey colourations.
