Over the last 20 years, Maori Tattoo has had an explosive resurge where many famous musicians (Robbie Williams, Ben Harper) have chosen to brand themselves with this Art form alongside high profile sports people (Mike Tyson, New Zealand All Black Rugby players etc). We believe Maori tattoo design is one of the best ‘Tribal’ Art styles in the world.
Zealand Tattoo has adopted Oriental Art tattoo design as one of the main focal points of their overall business vision. Personally, Zane is most passionate about this tattoo art form and has excelled in this genre to the point where he is recognised as one of the very best Oriental Tattoo Artists in New Zealand.
When it comes to skin art – some people prefer a full colour tattoo design and the following Gallery shows a wide selection of our colour tattoos. Full colour tattoos can be carried out in one of ‘timeless’ specialised art styles – Japanese, Maori, Ornamental or other styles that we work with such as Portrait, New School etc. We use permanent indelible inks that give maximum bright colouration together with excellent ink longevity.
Black & Grey Tattoos are another very popular preference or style in tattooing. In essence, keeping a certain designs simplified in their colouration can make them stand out or look better – a bit like the expression “less is more”. Some Maori and Tribal tattoo designs are much better suited to Black or Black & Grey than multiple colours.

It is relatively common for people to have a tattoo that they no longer like later in life. Alternatively, the design may appear to be somewhat out of date or inferior when held up against the advanced modern tattoo art of today. A good tattoo artist can carry out excellent tattoo removal by way of cover up work - to the point where you cannot recognise the previous (old) tattoo in the new piece whatsoever. We specialise in excellent Cover Up tattoo work and the following Gallery shows a number of our recent projects.
